Patchwork Band
Tonight's Entertainment: Bluegrass Music
The kind folks over at the West Michigan Bluegrass Music Association have put together a great night of entertainment with two wonderful bluegrass bands. The entertainment starts at 6:30 PM.
Patchwork Band's original songs have the Patchwork Band fingerprint of the northern style of bluegrass that the band has become famous for. This style is woven through the band's original arrangements, the old standards, as well as the contemporary bluegrass songs we play. We derive our unique sound from the driving beat of John's 1941 vintage Kay bass, the rhythm stylings of Ruth's guitar, the fine picking of Bryan's banjo, and Terry's mandolin and old time fiddle and harmonica playing. Top it off with our tight harmonies and you have one great musical experience.
The Black Canyon band consists of Tony Zapolnik on rhythm guitar and lead & harmony vocals, Jim Strangways on mandolin and lead & harmony vocals, Ken Mortimore on bass and lead & harmony vocals, and Paul Pope on banjo. We feature 3-part harmony and an energetic style that is fun to watch.
